New Band Watch – YoYo Eskimo

YoYo Eskimo are an instantly likeable London based four-piece peddling a cross breed of bittersweet electronic indie. The product of two former members of folk-pop quintet Lion O’Brien, YoYo Eskimo has an altogether different sound to the sunny side up tracks favoured in their previous incarnation.

Skilled craftsmen and songwriters, their songs are laced with beautiful instrumentation, driving vocals and intelligent melodies. YoYo Eskimo’s sound veers into diverse and sometimes unconventional territories, avoiding the monotony of some electronic indie bands, due in part to the shared vocal responsibilities of guitarist James O’Brien and multi instrumentalist Mick Fahy.

Favourite tracks include the bleakly poignant ‘Art of Keeping a Secret’ and the sunny darkness that is ‘Into the Night’.

Catch these lads live to fully bear witness to their capabilities, they never fail to get a crowd cheering.
