Erland and the Carnival

Erland and the Carnival is the latest follower of the ‘so-and-so and the so-and-so’s’ band name trend to have caught my ear. Track ‘My Name is Carnivalis a Jackson C Frank cover that suits the bands folk rock leanings, but plays with ‘60s garage sounds, evoking a foreboding quality to the track. Admittedly not all of their offerings do it for me, but when they do it well it makes for an intriguing listen.

Having such musically able band members has evidently well equipped ETC with their current venture. Erland Cooper is accompanied by Simon Tong (ex-The Verve and The Good, The Bad & The Queen) and David Nock (drummer from Sir Paul McCartney’s The Fireman.)

Here is Erland and the Carnival’sMy Name is Carnival’, followed swiftly by the original Jackson C Frank version, so you can compare them innit! Clever that.
